The "Multi-Sensing Convergence-Based Intelligent Security Safety Surveillance System" developed by the Korea Institute of Standards and Science was selected as a top 100 national R&D excellence in 2016 and received the best award (Ministerial Award citation).
The system is a state-of-the-art CCTV that can check faces at a distance of 60 meters, and it recognizes and tracks people with body temperature to obtain images by enlarging their faces.

In particular, all data processing, storage, and transmission are automatically performed on computers within their own system, and it is a wide-area intelligent smart CCTV system with 64 times the surveillance area of full HD CCTV.
Through the development of this CCTV, the researcher expects to contribute greatly to the prevention of crime and terrorism by overcoming the problem of identifying the criminal's face due to low-quality and the need to collect all CCTV footage from the crime scene.
Kim Soo-eon, a researcher who played a role in developing the system, said, "If we replace the existing CCTV, we can drastically reduce communication costs, infrastructure construction costs, maintenance costs, and labor costs, and secure competitiveness in terms of technology, economy, and efficiency compared to other products."
